Waxing FAQs
1. What type of wax do you use?
At Blissful Wax Bar, we use European hard wax, which is gentle on the skin and perfect for sensitive areas. It adheres only to the hair, making the process more comfortable and reducing irritation.
2. How long should my hair be before getting waxed?
For the best results, we recommend your hair be at least ¼ inch long (about the size of a grain of rice) before your appointment. This ensures the wax can grip the hair properly for optimal removal.
3. How often should I get waxed?
We suggest getting waxed every 3 to 4 weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle. Regular waxing weakens the hair follicle over time, leading to finer and sparser hair growth.
4. Is waxing painful?
While waxing can cause some discomfort, it varies from person to person. Our experienced estheticians use techniques to minimize pain, and with regular waxing, clients often find the process becomes less painful.
5. What should I do to prepare for my waxing appointment?
To prepare, make sure the area to be waxed is clean and dry. Avoid applying lotions or oils before your appointment. We also recommend exfoliating 24 hours before your wax to remove dead skin cells, which can help with hair removal.
6. What should I do after my waxing session?
After waxing, avoid sun exposure, hot showers, saunas, and sweating/ intense workouts for 24-48 hours. Wearing loose clothing can help prevent irritation. We also suggest using a soothing lotion or oil to keep your skin hydrated and to prevent ingrown hairs.
7. Can I get waxed if I’m pregnant?
Yes, waxing during pregnancy is safe! However, due to increased sensitivity in the skin, some clients may find the experience more uncomfortable than usual. Please let us know if you're pregnant so we can make accommodations for your comfort.
8. What is the difference between a bikini and Brazilian wax?
A bikini wax removes hair from the sides and top of the bikini line, while a Brazilian wax removes all hair from the front, back, and everything in between. You can also request a "landing strip" or leave a small patch if preferred.
9. How do I prevent ingrown hairs?
To prevent ingrown hairs, we recommend exfoliating the waxed area 2-3 times a week using a gentle exfoliant. Keeping the area moisturized with an oil or lotion designed for post-wax care also helps.
10. How long will my wax last?
Results typically last 3-4 weeks, but it varies depending on your hair growth rate. Regular waxing may reduce the frequency of growth over time.
11. Can I still get waxed if I’m on my period?
Yes, you can still get waxed during your period. However, your skin may be more sensitive, so you might experience more discomfort than usual. Please wear a tampon or menstrual cup during the appointment.
12. Is there anything I should avoid before or after my waxing appointment?
Before waxing, avoid sun exposure, tanning, and any abrasive skincare treatments for at least 48 hours. After your appointment, avoid hot baths, heavy workouts, and direct sun exposure for 24-48 hours.
13. What if I have sensitive skin?
We specialize in working with all skin types, including sensitive skin. Our European hard wax is designed to minimize irritation, and we use soothing post-wax care products to help keep your skin calm.
